I know there are a few quad guys here so i though I would ask it. THis spring I want to find a fixer upper quad or maybe even a dirt bike for a summer project. I hoping to find one for cheap that may need new plastics, body parts, and maybe an engine rebuild or tune-up.My question is this: What are some quads that are easy to find parts for and work on? Any seem to be more reliable than others? I'll probably be looking for a mid 80's to mid 90's machine. Thanks

Well my advice would be to snap up a 87-89 Honda 250r chassis and go from there. Parts are pretty easy to get and you can always find great used stuff to throw on and would have a great machine. The geometry is good for riding, racing and whatnot, so you will be happy with it.
Otherwise I have a nice Yamaha Moto 4 225 for ya if you want..hehe... Ask Truth about it!! ~Jay

i would say go find a blown banshee and go from there banshee's are one of the accssesorizable(my spelling sucks) quads you can buy maybe throw a crotch rocket engine in it
I really would like to build a quad from the ground up and hope to be able to do so possibly next winter. I just have way too many projects going on right now. I want to try out a hybrid in a 250r geometry Leager narrow chassis, with a crf motor... IDK time will tell..

that would be one sick quad..i would like to build one myself just waiting for some cash flow..LOL
I would love to do this kind of build up, but I'm stuck on the production quads and dont' think I could build an aftermarket framed machine that I couldn't potentially race in what seems to be a "production world"....
You can pick up Hybrids or aftermarket frames R's for very cheap these days, and i'm sure to build one from the ground up would be very inexpensive in comparison to a production machine.
Keep an eye out for my Walsh YFZ build up soon. ~Jay
