Well as the winter is flaking off and warm weather is in sight, we can only keep our heads up and look forward to the quad riding/racing season for 07'..
Though I race TT on my 450r, I still need a machine that I can go out there and beat around on during my off weeks. My 450r is strickly build for TT racing only and cannot see anytime on the MX track due to the "short travel" shocks and its completely built motor, so that leaves me with nothing to ride on the weekends on the mx track.
I was able to aquire a 2005 Yamaha YFZ 450 last summer that was used as a show quad for Custom Axis at the Indy 06' show last year and knew that this would be perfect for me to use as my weekend practice machine. It has never been raced and has only been ridden two times in my yard just to try it out.
I am in the middle of the tear down process right now and will be building this machine from the ground up using only the best products available to me and using the components that fit me and my riding style... Since this is a MX quad only, I will be focusing on the suspension and handling of the machine, but will keep in mind its weight and look as well. I will be doing all of my own powdercoating and will be having many parts made from carbon fiber also being on the bike for durablity and its weight savings.
In the frame will be the stock 05 motor with mild treatments. I will not be breaking into the motor much because I'd like to keep the motor as realiable as possible, but yet give it that little "uummff " to get through the track without any loss of power.
Well I'll be posting pics soon of some of the parts I have to complete this build and since its early and I have a lot of other projects going (07 440 sled, 04 TT machine) I am going to be going leasurely at this one and will be providing as much info as possible as we go.

Can't wait to see some of the pics, sounds like it will be one bad ass machine. How much money do you plan on putting in to it, or is just however much it takes.
Well I definatley aint going to be sticking all of my money into it, but it should be a legitimate quad with all of the top of the line suspension and parts into it. I can't put a price tag on it, seeing that it has reciepts up to $25k before i bought it stuck into it.
All I can say is that I have decided on the suspension i'm going with... Care to know what kind?? LOL

Well things are moving along slowly but surely. I have the quad down the the frame. The frame is going in this week yet to get the mounting tabs welded on and then it will be pc'd to match the LSR subframe.
Here are some of the parts that will be going onto this quad.
