Though mother nature hasn't been as giving as usual in the form of snow up in Eagle River, that didn't hold the crew from WPSA from putting on a great show this past weekend.
This being the 1st WPSA National held at the AmsOil Derby Track, many wondered how this venue would react to this new race being held and with well over 4000 people attending each day of the event, I would have to say that it was a great turnout and WPSA made it worth while.
I will giving a somewhat descriptive post on the pics from the weekend and try to fill you guys in on all of the details. The results from the event are posted in the Snocross section, feel free to check em out!!
Thanks, Jay

During the qualifying heats of Semi-Pro I was able to snag this shot of Brett Turcotte (#196 ), Dan Ebert (#602) and Paul Bauerly (#324) trenching through the woops on the front stretch. Many riders were having trouble with this section and it seemed that either you gained positions going through this strech or lost positions.

Here is Steve Martin (#18) leading the pack of riders aboard his newly aquired Ski-Doo XP . Following him is Robby Malinowski (#4), Mike Schultz (#5) and Justin Tate (#10)...
Steve was constantly out front in his heats over the weekend, but seemed to always have troubles. If I remember right, he actually got turned over and wrecked about 5 times this weekend.

Here Justin Tate looks back to check out the track between heats. The groomers changed the track very often over the weekend according to the racers liking. Tate would end up getting injured and didn't ride the rest of the weekend.....
Leading the riders in heat #2 of Pro Open qualifying was the Boss Racing Yamaha of Robby Malinowski (#4) who ended taking the win in this heat. He looked very smooth and rode that four stroke hard.

While getting a break in the action for a grooming break, we heading down to the pits for a walk. I decided to snag as many shots of the sleds as I could, but of course most of the sleds were in the transporters getting treatments...
Here is Steven Martins stocker and XP open sled

Justin Tates Ski -Doo XP sitting in the pits. As stated before this sled was ridden at all after 10 am Saturday morning due to injuries suffered from Tate.
As you can see by the seat and other parts, this looks to be a choppy version of what should be the chassis used next for next season...
Here is Blair Morgan's stocker. His mechanic was bolting back in the suspension at the time..

In my opinion of the nicest looking sleds in the pits was Katejun Koonishish's Dootalk.com sled. The black and yellow design of the sled really set off the angles nicely.

Getting to the Boss Racing sleds was a complicated task because these sleds always had a crowd around them. I looked over the chassis intensely and thought that it was very rigid looking and everything was beefed up. This was a pretty refined chassis which was suprising to me. The ergonomics seem to be pretty nice and power doesn't seem to be an issue either.
I was waiting for them to pop open the hood, but of course they wouldn't do that for me.
Here are some pics of Team rider Yugi Nagosawa's sled...

Here is TJ Gulla's Open sled. Check out the "new" Fox Float X Evols... I noticed that Gulla was using the new Hi and Lo Compression style shocks, while team mate Levi LaVallee was using the regular version of the Evols..
Here is up and coming rider Brett Bender... This kid flys!!!!
Check out Levi's sled.. This is his stocker..
Rear suspension with Dual Rate Titanium front track shock..Interesting...

Steve Martin was riding hard and had the lead until Shaun Crapo and him ended up getting wrapped together.. All I could see what sleds going end over end and snow flying every where.
Martin's sled hit the wall pretty hard about 30 ft away from where he was sitting..
Steve Martin looks to be in major pain and it looked like his hand was pretty torn up as you could see the blood coming from it..

Hahaha... Yea we had a great time up there. Though the weather wasn't as nice as possibly it could have been, we still stuck it out. The racing was great and it was nice to get up there and watch the first year of these events up at Eagle River.
I have some video's i'll be sharing soo as well, just give me a couple days to compile them together into one. I took short clips of the action so you guys could see them in motion, but I'm not sure how it will come out. I did it with my digital camera... We'll see..................
Later, Jay
